Google is again on with their upcoming mobile friendly algorithm changes. The search experts are advising to site owners to avoid the common mistakes while converting their websites to a mobile friendly website.
Google given advice from its Google webmaster community on Twitter and have provided a list of most common mistakes in mobile friendly website design. Here I am giving an overview of these mistakes –
- Blocked JS, CSS and images: Always allow the JavaScript, CSS and image files in your site’s robots file.
- Unplayable Content: This type of issue is consisting of certain types of videos and other playable content which do not work properly in mobile devices like flash etc.
- Faulty Redirect: If your website has separate mobile URLs then you must redirect mobile users on the right mobile URL. It shouldn’t redirect mobile user from desktop URL to the faulty mobile URL.
- Mobile Only 404s: Websites should have mobile only 404 URLS to avoid bounce rate. Some websites serve content to desktop users but show error page to the mobile users. You should avoid this mistake by using an equivalent mobile URL.
- Irrelevant Cross Links: Irrelevant pages makes user irritated. It happens when users are linked to desktop optimized pages from their mobile devices and similarly if they are linked to mobile optimized pages from their desktop devices. Check your each and every link to ensure that it points to the right equivalent page.
- Slow Mobile Pages: To avoid user annoyance, make sure your mobile pages opens or load quickly. You can check your web page speed through Google PageSpeed Insights Tool.
