Have you ever heard about âFetch as Google Toolâ? In this post I am going to explain you how to use this feature of google webmaster and itâs in depth capabilities.
What is Fetch as Google Tool?
This tool has further two methods â

- Fetch and Render â For a Deep or Closer Look â In this method, Googlebot crawls URL and show the page that a browser would show.
First of all the crawler gets all the assets referenced by your URL like images, CSS, JavaScript or any code to render the visual arrangement of page as an image. You can even use the rendered image to identify the difference between how exactly the crawler see your website and how your browser deliver it.
Steps to Use Fetch as Google Tool
- On webmaster tool home page, select the website you want to check.
- In left bar, click Crawl and select Fetch as Google.

If you want to see how desktop browser sees your website then chooses Desktop. If you want a smart phone mobile crawlerâs view then choose Mobile Smartphone.
Further, if you want mobile crawlerâs view for a feature phone then choose Mobile cHTML or Mobile XHTML/WML. (*Mobile cHTML is mainly for Japanese websites.

(*FETCH AND RENDER option is not for the WML and cHTML.)
When you enter a URL and fetched it, you will get an option to submit it for Google indexing. For this you will get a button which allows you to do so.
Once you submit a URL and fetch it; you can click on the path when it is done. This will lead you to further details.
